Ash Wednesday

God our Father, You formed us from the dust of the Earth. You brought us to new life by the work of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. As we journey through these forty days of Lent, help us to see Jesus in everyone we meet. Help us to serve Him in all persons, especially the poor, sick, and lonely. 

Today it is Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, occurring six and a half weeks before Easter (between February 4 and March 11, depending on the date of Easter). Ash Wednesday is a solemn reminder of human mortality and the need for reconciliation with God and marks the beginning of the penitential Lenten season. It is commonly observed with ashes and fasting.

Today in school, we welcomed Father Stephen who performed Mass for the children and staff.  Well done to all the children who read beautifully and took part in Mass.  You are all a credit to our school. Thank you to Father Stephen for taking us through Mass.  God bless you always.
