Key aims of Maths Week

  • Raise the profile of mathematics:To highlight the importance and relevance of math in modern life.
  • Promote a positive attitude:To change the conversation around maths to be more positive and less intimidating.
  • Encourage access:To provide engaging mathematical experiences for children and adults from all backgrounds.
  • Inspire future mathematicians:To encourage young people to consider careers in maths by connecting it to the wider world. 

Activities and events

  • Competitions:Events like online contests and challenges are often held for students to compete at their own level.
  • Educational resources:Free resources such as video puzzles, problem-solving activities, and printable worksheets are made available for schools and families.
  • School and university events:Schools and higher education institutions are encouraged to host events, such as inviting schoolchildren to visit for maths-related activities.
