Snow! Snow! Snow!

 Snowflake, snowflake,

Shining in the sky.

Snowflake, snowflake,

Twirling as you go by.

Snowflake, snowflake,

You’re one of a kind.

Oh, I wish you were mine.  

It was so exciting to have a snow shower this morning at school! Reception and Nursery quickly put on their coats and ran outside to try and catch some snowflakes on their tongues. We could see the tiny flakes landing on our coats and in our hair before they melted. We also found that the water on the sand pit cover has frozen completely solid because the temperature is so cold! We found some more frozen water in the water tray and the children decided to see if they could crack it. Using trial and error, they were soon able to independently crack the ice using their fists and elbows. They found a water bubble under the ice and watched how it moved by pushing down on the ice in different places.
