Year 3 Trip to Natural History Museum

The Museum is a world-class visitor attraction and a leading science research centre. We use our unique collections and unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually.

The whole of Year 3 went to the Natural History Museum today as part of their topic on Prehistoric Britain and to learn more about fossils for their Science topic. The Natural History Museum in London is a treasure trove of scientific knowledge and natural wonders. Amongst the museum’s collection are the awe-inspiring blue whale hanging in the entrance hall, to the intricately detailed fossils and minerals on display, this museum offers visitors a glimpse into the incredible diversity of life on Earth.
The children had a wonderful day exploring the Museum and learning alot more about Mary Anning, an unsung hero of fossil discovery. Mary was a pioneering Paleontologist and fossil collector and the children have been learning all about her in class. It was a good opportunity to get some hands-on experience with real fossils!
