Year 6 Globe Theatre Visit

The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 at Southwark, close to the south bank of the Thames, by Shakespeare's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. It was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A second Globe Theatre was built on the same site by June 1614 and stayed open until the London theatre closures of 1642. A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997 approximately 750 feet (230 m) from the site of the original theatre.

Our Year 6 children went to Shakespeare’s Globe today! This trip was organised as we were learning all about Shakespeare and specifically the play 'Macbeth'. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about his plays and why he is still relevant today. The children were taken on a tour of the theatre as well as participating in a workshop with one of the actors! A great fun day was had by all!
